Over the past year, DataEndure’s TECH talks have covered a wide range of topics related to cybersecurity–from emerging industry trends, the economy, best practices, and more. Looking back at viewership across all our broadcasts, three features stood out distinctively from the rest–and not surprisingly, they are interrelated.
With polymorphic malware responsible for many initial intrusions, it is understandable why viewers wanted more education on why their current antivirus/endpoint detection tools were failing to recognize and stop malware, and what to do about it. The next logical step is to take a closer look at your overall security strategy. Traditional security tools are reactive in nature, leaving organizations vulnerable–and many are asking how they can be more aggressive or proactive against cyberthreats. With cyber-insurers making widespread changes to their policies and protocol, security maturity was top of mind for many organizations who were being asked to increase and enhance their security posture to maintain insurability.
Even though the calendar year has changed, these three themes will continue to be relevant in the coming year and beyond. We’ve listed them here for easy viewing:
The Cyber-insurance Landscape is Changing – Are you still Insurable? – With the ever-growing reach and success of cyberattacks, how is the insurance industry responding? And how are security risks–and our current security posture–affecting our ability to be insurable?
Leveling up – From Awareness to Preparedness – Many security tools and vendors focus on helping organizations respond or react once a breach or outage happens, but that point, something bad has happened! How do we get out in front of security risks and gaps? How do we evolve to a more proactive and offensive posture?
Strategies to Defend Against Shape Shifting Malware – Why is our endpoint detection tool missing so many of the threats out there? Do we need to think differently about our endpoint solution? (polymorphic malware)
No doubt, 2023 will present new challenges and opportunities and we will do our best to cover the information you need in future TECH talks. Be sure to join us each month, and if you have a topic you’d like to see covered, please reach out!
