Situation

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has issued a new security notice that Apple has released security updates for multiple products, including MacOS, iOS, iPad OS, tvOS, and WatchOS

Problem

Threat Actors are exploiting unpatched systems to:

• Execute arbitrary code
• Gain root-level privileges
• Access restricted files on the vulnerable system
• And more

Implication

Failure to heed the guidelines in the advisory could leave one vulnerable to these exploits.

Need

CISA and Apple both encourage users and administrators to review the Apple security pages for the following products and apply the necessary updates:

• Security update 2022-001 macOS Catalina
• macOS Big Sur 11.6.3
• macOS Monterey 12.2
• tvOS 15.3
• iOS 15.3 and iPad OS 15.3
• watchOS 8.4
