Google Releases Security Update for Chrome browser
Situation
Google has recently released a security update for their Chrome browser version 80.0.3987.162 for Windows, Mac, and Linux systems. This version addresses vulnerabilities that could allow an attacker to take control of an affected system.
Problem
There was a total of eight security vulnerabilities fixed on the Google Chrome browser. With the most severe of these being two use after free vulnerabilities found in the WebAudio component (CVE-2020-6450, CVE-2020-6451) and one head based buffer overflow vulnerability found in the Media component (CVE-2020-6452).
Implication
If an attacker who is able to exploit any of the severe vulnerabilities listed above it could perform arbitrary code execution. Which in effect could allow the attacker to take control of the system.
Need
It is advised to update your Google Chrome browser to the version 80.0.3987.162 or higher as soon as possible.
